Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you start chatting
We clearly separate what a match can see, what the system retains, and what Hapuan does not support yet.
What is Hapuan?
Hapuan is a friendship space for adults. It currently starts with Private Random Chat, which pairs two people only when their preferences agree.
Is Hapuan completely anonymous?
No. A match sees your chosen name, calculated age, and declared gender, but not your sign-in account, birth date, or matching preferences.
Who can use Hapuan?
Hapuan is designed for adults aged 18 and over. Age is calculated from a self-reported birth date and is not identity-verified.
Do I need a Google account before chatting?
No. You can begin with a guest identity. Connecting Google is required for member features such as friend requests and ongoing private messages.
How does Hapuan choose a match?
Each person must fit the other's accepted age range and genders. When several pairs are compatible, the system favours pairs that still match more of their original preferences, then considers waiting time.
Does the conversation disappear after eight minutes?
The conversation expires and leaves participant-visible history, but server-side message records are retained indefinitely.
Can I add a match as a friend?
Members can send a friend request from a match. Once accepted, both people have a Friendship and can begin an ongoing private conversation.
Are Friend Posts available yet?
They are still in development. Friend Posts will be a public area for sharing friendship activities or intentions, separate from matching.
